"The remains of a surprising past"

DESCRIPTION OF THE ITINERARY

9:00 Departure from the Garden of Murillo
We will leave early in the morning, in a luxury bus, before the sun begins to tighten and we will go towards the nearby town of Santiponce where we will visit the ruins of the Roman city of Italica.

9:30 Arrive in Italica

Accompanied by a local guide we will visit the amazing ruins of this splendid Roman city, birthplace of two emperors: Hadrian and Trajan, with its theater and its huge amphitheater, considered the third largest Roman amphitheater in the whole world, with a capacity for 25,000 spectators.

11:30 Departure to Carmona

After some free time to have a coffee and recover from the experienced emotions, we will depart to the town of Carmona.

12:30 Visit of the Roman Necropolis of Carmona

In this cosy town of Carmona we will find an amphitheater and one of the best preserved Roman and pre-Roman necropolis in our peninsula. We will visit it accompanied by a local guide. This archaeological site stands out as having more than 700 Roman graves and for having one of the oldest known funerary monuments of Tartesian origin of the seventh century BC. The spectacular grave goods, that have been found near the tombs, are now in the Museum of the Necropolis, whose visit is included.

14:00 Lunch and free time

We cannot continue our trip without resetting forces before. To do this, nothing better than a restorative lunch at one of the best typical restaurants of the city of Carmona: the "An ca Carmela". Its dishes range from the best Andalusian cuisine to the most delicious recipes of the Moorish cuisine. Then, we can enjoy some free time, to wander around this beautiful city.

17:00 Departure to Sevilla.

Now it is time to continue because we still have many things to do. We return to Sevilla to keep digging into the unknown world of the Andalusian Rome.

17:45 Visit of the archaeological remains of the Antiquarium.

The beginning of the construction of Metropol Parasol, one of the most modern buildings in Seville, laid bare some visible remains of the Roman period, from 30 AD, in Tiberius' time, to the sixth century, and an Islamic Almohad house of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. We will visit this ensemble in the company of a local guide to admire the mosaics of the Roman House, the Ninfa's House, the Bacchus' House and a three-meter tiled wall in the Courtyard of the Ocean. It also has the House of the Column, which contains the Mosaic of Medusa, the House of the Basas, the Sigma House, the House of the Waterwheel and the Dolphin Hospitium.
